i have complicated feelings about this one. grew up with the original, watched my dad beat it on our crt, all that. so coming back to midgar stretched out into 40 hours was either going to work or it wasnt. it mostly works? combat is way better than i expected, tifa feels incredible to play, and the side stuff with jessie hit harder than it had any right to. but god the filler. every time they added a corridor of ghost enemies blocking a door i wanted to scream. the train graveyard chapter was so long i forgot what game i was playing and then the ending happened and i just sat there. not sure if im mad or impressed. probably both. ill still buy the next one day one tho
